2018 WorldSBK Championship
Round 13, Losail, Qatar
Race 1
Friday 26th October
Circuit: 5.380m

Pedercini Racing’s Gabriele Ruiu continued his steep learning curve in the WorldSBK Championship with another solid performance and another championship point. The young Italian suffered front brake problems in the 17-lapper, but brought the bike home in 15th place.  It was his first ever race in Qatar and his first ever night race.

Gabriele Ruiu – 15th

“This was my first time here and I think the track is fantastic. And riding at night is unbelievable, but takes a bit of getting used to. Considering all this, I was happy with the way practice and qualifying went. For me, the race was difficult because we had some problems with the front brake. Because of this I lost some time in the first corner and that made the rest of the race a bit difficult.

Apart from that problem today, I have a good feeling with the bike. I need to not make so many mistakes. If I can do this, and not have any brake problems, I think we can have a very good race tomorrow.”

Lucio Pedercini (Team Manger)

“Considering that this was his first time in Qatar and his first time racing at night, I think that Gabriele did a good job. He’s young and he is learning all the time and that is good for him and the team. It has been a long, hard season for us and we hope that he will continue to make progress and get some more championship points in tomorrow’s final race of the season.”
